Incredible, what the ponies and their little international riders can do! This was the opinion at the Pappas Pony Grand Prix that was counted as an important points valuation for the Big tour of the European Pony Challenge and at the same time is one of the qualifiers for the upcoming European Pony Championships in Bishop Burton (GBR).

Quickly and with enormous scope: this was how the 26 ponies presented themselves in the int. jumping competition over an unbelievable 1.35 m where course designer Giovanni Busso (ITA) sifted out the best. Merely three succeeded going clear in the first round and only one made it through the jump-off with zero faults: Leonie Peeters (BEL), already seconds with the Belgian team in the Pony Nation's Cup on Saturday, rode a calm deciding round for the the jump-off, cleared obstacle after obstacle with her 9-year-old chestnut mare Kyra and could already draw a deep breath, because her zero round brought the other two riders into the position of having to face a real challenge.

Now, the small Swiss rider Thomas Nussbaumer, as well as his team colleague Estelle Wettstein, put on the more pressure: Thomas Nussbaumer raced through the jump-off with his pony gelding Clogherboy, delivering the best time, dropped the last jump of them all  and had to bury his dreams of a win. Though Estelle Wettstein started off very crisply, nevertheless, she had one down at the entry of the last combination and at the exit, too, meaning that she and her Sambesi daughter "Calinca III" placed third in the end.

"I am over the moon!" Pappas Pony Grand Prix winner Leonie Peeters beamed with joy! She had already made it  to the jump-off in the preceding Pappas Children Grand Prix.

At the Pappas Pony Grand Prix, the European Pony Challenge not only presented gifted and promising riders from 6 nations, but it could be seen already that these were small professionals who are equipped with a lot of ambition, courage and skill.
