Gut ISing EYCUP S** 1.45m: Katja Dellert goes to Frankfurt.

09/27/2010 - 08:49 | This is record 1 out of 1.

By: Claire Simler

In a beautiful Lake Chiemsee setting, the 13th leg of the EYCUP took place in broad sunlight. 37 riders from 11 nations fought for victory and for the highly coveted permission to compete in the finals of the EYCUP at Frankfurt during the festival hall show.

Now the EYCUP extends far beyond the borders of Europe, because riders from Turkey, Hong Kong, Egypt and Australia were there to compete as well, in addition to the standard European nations (Germany, Denmark, Poland, Italy, Switzerland and Sweden).

After a difficult first round, 10 horse and rider pairs were allowed to proceed to the winning round. Everybody started again with a clear slate and 0 points and, hence, had an equal chance for victory.

Daniel Oppermann, riding Caprice A, was the second rider to compete and went clear while also being very fast. The riders to follow all tried their best to beat him.

The last rider to compete was the one who succeeded. Young rider Katja Dellert will now be allowed to compete at Frankfurt. In the saddle of her mare, Meret, she virtually had wings when negotiating the difficult course of Mr. Sailer.

Third place went to Poland's Alicya Grygier who is competing in an EYCUP event for the first time.
